Hybrid Electronic and Hydraulic Valve Control Provides Excellent Protection Against Power Outages
Motorized valves are typically used to control a single function and offer limited or no capabilities to provide multiple electronic functions with hydraulic backup functions. On the other hand, hybrid electronic and hydraulic control valves can reduce the number of valves required in a system and can offer useful “insurance” against power failures and costly line breaks. Valve Station Planning 101
Choosing the correct control valve size and accessories can ensure years of trouble-free operation
Control valves (CV) are found throughout municipal water distribution systems and are integral to maintaining consistent water pressure and supply. The importance and ubiquity of control valves underscore their significance in the functionality and reliability of water distribution infrastructures. To ensure the CV provides the functionality required with years of trouble-free operation, it’s important to select the correct size of valve and accessories, while providing a well-designed environment for the operational personnel that will have to maintain this valve ... Isolation Valves
What to Consider in Selecting the Right Valve
Many isolation valves are available for a municipal water system. Selecting the right one impacts the efficiency, reliability, and maintenance of the water supply network. An isolation valve is typically either in the fully open or fully closed position. Gate valves are most commonly used, while check valves are also a good consideration. A water system manager or operator has many things to consider when selecting an isolation valve for their system. Managing Pressure in Mongolia
With New and Existing Automatic Control Valves
There are many factors at play threatening the fragile water resources in Mongolia, and with groundwater tables showing a marked decline in the past 50 years the UNEP organization embarked on a major rehabilitation of the Ulaanbaatar water supply. Critical to this initiative was the flow and pressure management, in which they decided to deploy a wide range of Cla-Val automatic control valves across the system. A total of 18 Model 340-02 Series rate of flow control valves with sizes ranging from 150-500mm were installed inside the capital of Ulaanbaatar ... Read More
Reservoir Controller for Automatic Control
Reservoir in Lancashire Adds a Controller for a Quick Fix to Automate Control
Boars Head Service Reservoir provides fresh drinking water to just under 6,000 customers across 3 District Management Areas (DMAs) near Wigan, Lancashire. The site had been operating for several years using a 12″ (300mm) actuated butterfly valve to control the tank inlet water supply at a predetermined minimum and maximum water level. Site conditions made managing the reservoir levels more cumbersome than it needed to be ... Read More
